Our Story

Our Roots

In 1975, Pastor Rev. Joseph Jayaratnam, started a ‘House of Prayer’ in Manipay, Sri Lanka. He also founded  the ‘Abundant New Life Fellowship’ in Anaicoddai, and ‘Yesu Nilayam’ in Araly North Vaddukkodai. Our Pastor was the founder and director of these missions. Overall, they had 8 branches in the villages which were operated from Annaicoddai, which was the central and main mission centre. During that time, they conducted open air Sunday school for 400 children.  After, Pastor Jayaratnam’s family left Sri Lanka, John Seevaratnam continued the work and became the director of the ministry.

Birth of NLFC

In 1985, our Pastor and his family came to the city of Montreal in Canada. They felt that the name of the Lord should be heard and began to share the word of God to people they met in shopping centres, bus stops, metro, etc…

In 1984, Pastor Jayaratnam met up with Rev. Eugene Dobrowolski who he initially met in Belgium. He encouraged pastor and his wife to start a ministry amongst their community. In 1986, the New Life Fellowship Church was founded and became affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (P.A.O.C) in 1987.
